Monthly Q&A with Dan + George || August 2021

Check back each month to have your FBA, shipping, inventory, and warehouse logistics questions answered. In this monthly Q&A series, our Warehouse Manager, Dan Mattison, and Director of Operations & Logistics, George Papazekos, answer some of your most frequently asked questions.

Is there a maximum allowed quantity for my first shipment to Amazon?

The maximum quantity you can send in depends on how much space Amazon has allotted to your seller account.

For example, the seller account shown below has a total inventory quantity level of 68,039 but has 63,558 units already used (amount of items currently in an Amazon FBA fulfillment center). This seller's next shipment would be at a max of 4,481 since that is the amount of space they have remaining. The max shipment quantity will change for each seller at any given point, depending on how much of their allotted inventory space is currently available. If this seller did not have any inventory in Amazon, their max shipment could be up to 68,039 units.

Originally, I sold only FBM but want to sell FBA (by just adding more SKUs to the same listings). Can I price FBA products higher to factor in extra costs?

You can have different prices for the same product, they would just have to be two different listings using the same product ASIN. FBA listings will get the buybox over FBM listings, but both will show up as a buying option on the listing page.

What should I do if FBA shipment under-received inventory?

Amazon will not always check in your FBA shipment correctly. Sometimes they will under or over receive shipments. A seller would have to reconcile each shipment with Amazon that has a discrepancy. Sellers can open a reconciliation case with Amazon support about 30-45 days after the shipment has been checked-in/received by Amazon.

The FBA fees I was charged do not match estimated fees. Why?

There is a chance that Amazon has the product’s size listed incorrectly. The FBA fee per unit is dependent on the size, dimensions, and weight. There are different tiers/categories that increase in price. Amazon may have the product listed in the wrong tier. Below is the most up-to-date FBA fee chart.
